How much do companies need Integrated Urban Pest Management (IUPM) services?

The sustained growth of the country's economy in recent years has brought about the development of the industry in general and new markets abroad, many more demanding and competitive. Likewise, the internal consumer himself, based on globalized information, is increasingly strict and rigorous regarding the quality of what he consumes.

In this context, the certification of good manufacturing and storage practices, as well as food safety, have generated a greater need for more professional and technical Integrated Urban Pest Management (IUPM) services; That is, it is necessary to have the science and technology of the IUPM at your service.

In this order of ideas, companies in general seek to implement IUPM programs that contribute to the generation of healthy and pest-free environments.

And how developed are the IUPM services offered versus those of other countries in the region?

Some countries in the Region such as the USA, Mexico, Chile and Argentina among others have developed urban pest management with a technical-scientific approach before us. Thus, being more attractive markets for the IUPM industry, they have first had high-tech products and equipment at their disposal. That is why there is a need to have professionals from those latitudes who share with us successful experiences developed in all areas of interest, that is, the food industry, agribusiness, extractive industry, hotels, gastronomy, etc.

Why is a Congress like PerúPlagas created?

PERUPLAGAS arises from the need to have a Technical-Scientific-Commercial discussion space on IUPM. A space that allows the confluence of successful experiences from different latitudes to enrich us and strengthen our skills and abilities. A space that allows us to learn about the newest products and equipment to professionalize the field.

How much need do you think there is in the region for conferences of this magnitude?

The market offers high-level events in the Region such as PESTWORLD of the NPMA (National Pest Management Association), as well as that of UCABA (Union of Chambers and Associations of Buenos Aires in Urban Pest Management) Argentina and that of ANCPUAC (National Association of Urban Pest Control) Mexico and others; However, just last year an event with similar characteristics was organized with a wide spectrum of topics linked to the IUPM, with 14 professionals of the highest level and recognized experience.

What expectations do you have for this PerúPlagas 2017? What new things will there be in this second edition?

The favorable response from the market has forced us to create a much larger event, so this year we will have the participation of 20 speakers of great prestige and recognized experience. We will have a workshop intended only for control of Aedes aegypti (dengue, chikungunya and sika vector) aimed only at personnel in the public health sector. Likewise, a workshop for the food industry with presentations about certifications, audits and other related topics.

Our expectation is that this effort, as successful as last year's, will serve to position PERUPLAGAS as the most important IUPM event in Latin America.

What topics will be addressed?

The programmatic structure of PERUPLAGAS is oriented to address all the select topics that are part of an IUPM program, including control of synanthropic rodents, flies, cockroaches, stored grain pests, scaring away urban birds, issues linked to pest certifications and audits, sanitary design and maintenance, specific IPM programs for the food industry, agroindustry, poultry industry, hospitality and others.

For those interested, what offers do you have to attend?

With the aim of attracting the greatest number of people, we have generated 25% discounts for those who register before October 15, for those associated with AEPCS and for those attending PERUPLAGAS 2016 as a reward for their loyalty.
