New paradigms, friendly control strategies with low environmental impact, new devices, management software and above all... a lot of technical knowledge and experience. Are we prepared for what is coming in pest management? Where do the new challenges take us? LATAMPLAGAS was born as a magazine with technical-scientific contributions, basic bases for professional training. The future will require Elite companies, where technical capacity and business ability allow differentiation, evolution and sustainable growth. Not only will pests have to be managed by applying knowledge, but administrative sensitivity will have to be increased to achieve a profitable company. The CUCARACHERO, fumigator or “poison” applicator, will fall by the wayside due to lack of reaction and adaptability. For many years our industry has understood that there are several ways to offer services, but few, perhaps only one, is ideal to achieve quality and dividends with a focus on good practice. Studying and understanding the organisms to be controlled, their needs and habits, allow establishing corrective measures with greater impact on population densities. The strategic use of physical/mechanical control elements and the “surgical” implementation of chemical formulations go hand in hand with preventive health design and pertinent environmental modifications. Finally, we must assume that pests, within building structures, are the result of poor environmental management. As a magazine of our industry we are motivated and obliged to continue bringing new developments and strategies aimed at the professional and rational management of pests. We must not lose sight of the fact that today's pests will not be tomorrow's, and they will adapt and also evolve. This year, climate change has had a notable impact in different countries, promoting the presence of insects and arachnids in unusual places. The transmission of diseases from insect vectors has caused a large number of deaths and expenditure on public health campaigns. We find ourselves immersed in an extremely dynamic job, trade or profession, where the needs of clients or users are growing and we must satisfy them. It is our decision that LATAMPLAGAS continues to be present, precisely there, where updated information allows us to continue growing. Ing. Guillermo J. Tarelli CHEMOTECNICA S. A.
